From erriesCan I just complain for a second about Peattie being from the Allegheny mountains of West Virginia? I've lived in West Virginia my entire life, and I'm so sick of the stereotype. Peattie is shown as uneducated, ignorant, and essentially stupid - he marvels at the "true wonder" of a microwave, he doesn't know how to operate a vending machine, and he says things like, "Don't you be saying you don't recollect her," and "You be a smart man," and "That don't be right." Come ON. It makes it seem like everyone from the Appalachian region is illiterate and unintelligent and living in the 19th century. Ugh

Hmm, I think this is the scene you're referring to with Mulder's cute little smile at Scully? :D Yes, they are totally doing it. TRUFAX!
Oddly enough, I remember NOT liking this ep. Peattie really annoys me with his bad english and I was never into the story. But this time around, I really picked up on all the FLIRTYNESS so it wasn't so bad ;)
I could die from the way Mulder stares at her before she says "I'll always keep you guessing" and then he gives like this shy laugh. I COULD DIE.Amen, sister! I adore this episode with all it's flirty wonderfulness. Plus, Billy Drago is FANTASTIC as Mr. Peattie. This is one of my faves from Season 7, which says a lot because I love it general. Even the exchange between M&S at the very beginning is great what with the Dan Quayle non-joke joke and the banter about it not being an x-file. Again, I still totally believe they were doin' it before "all things

This is a highly personal episode, beautiful in its writing and its execution. There's so much M&S love oozing down the screen, it's like the two characters have truly become extensions of each other. Definitely one of the best eps of Season 7.
Mulder: "You do keep me guessing." This is one of the most personal, intimate lines of the entire series. I suspect when the writers tackled the script they aimed to deviate from the standard XF lines and make things more unpredictable and interesting. In poking fun at the show's formulaic dialogue, though, they also turned up the heat between M&S. And they did so in such a subtle, sexy way that it comes across all effortless and flirty. That said, imo Scully's definitely the instigator in the flirting department. By piquing his interest and keeping him on his toes, she is, in turn, turning him on.
"But Chris Carter, in looking back on 'Theef,' was able to pick out some diamonds in the rough. 'Theef was very well cast. We were specially lucky to get Billy Drago to play Peattie. There were also some pretty creepy moments involving patient X rays, and I felt the scene involving the MRI machine and microwave popcorn was bizarre. I also felt we came up with one of those classic X-Files lines in 'Stinky's good

Cue NC-17 fanfic. ;)
Thoughts & observations:
- Could they be standing any closer together?? With clothes on, not likely.
- Beautiful lighting!
- Mulder's like, "Hey Scully! Am I cute or what?" ( ... )
