I don't have much to say about this one. It's alright. I always get it mixed up with Theef for some reason though.
I liked the scene where Mulder and Skinner were at Morley talking to the people and not getting any answers, so Mulder pretty much does the same act to them. haha
I really like the lighting in the autopsy scene, but I couldn't seem to find a good screen cap. I also watched this ep months and months ago when I wrote all this down so I can't even remember WHY I liked the lighting LOL
I remember freaking out when I saw Mulder cough up that blood! Oh noes!!
Any scene in it with a tobacco beetle made me want to vomit. My grandmother used to grow tobacco until the government paid her to stop (We live in Kentucky.), and I had a tragic experience with them as a child. One crawled in my ear as a toddler and had to be picked out in the emergency room. I never got past when Mulder found the beetle in the glass when the episode originally aired; I did a lot of the "close the eyes and chant 'la la la!'" when the bugs came on screen when I watched the DVD.
Otherwise, poor Mulder. This is one hell of a brutal thing to deal with.

:O Oh my! That would traumatize me too, man. I don't blame you.

Poor Scully, too. Though I found GA's limited screen time in this might have also affected the amount of emotion she could show. Even when all she could do was stand by and wait while Mulder's condition worsened, she seemed a bit too calm, imo. Especially compared to how freaked out she was when Daniel crashed in "all things".
I love this one! It's a really fascinating Monster of the Week episode. Sure, the culprit is not of supernatural origin, but it was still scary as hell.
you realize 99.9% of people smoke smoke there Well... not really. ;)
As for the episode, I really like this one. The smoking guy is creepy, the bugs in the lungs are gross, Mulder and Scully are pretty, there's Skinner, good supporting actors, and flirting! What's not to love?
Also, everytime I watch the episode I'm really scared for Mulder, although I know what's going to happen. I'm always like "NO! Don't breath in the smoke, Mulder! Get away!" Haha.
I'm prone to exaggeration, but it does seem like it ;)

Oh me too. I think for me it's because it was veryvery close to being the end of it all for Mulder. Yikes!
I kind of love Brand X, I'm not gonna lie. There's such a wonderful shift in the relationship between Mulder and Scully in this one, and they don't even try to hide it. And yet it still works perfectly with the overall dynamic of the show. This episode and Je Souhaite are my go-to episodes for saying they could have continued as-is, while having Mulder and Scully totally hooking up in the background.
I really do like this one, though. I often find it hard to explain why, but there's just something about it.

You describe it perfectly. My prime example for that would be Je Souhaite like you also say, but you're right, it is very apparent in this episode too. I LOVE IT. I just love that whole idea of a different part of their relationship coinciding with the last part of the season.

Imo, the more realistic the villain, the scarier the ep.

I love the scenes in the hospital though, how Scully is all concerned and close to tears and awwww. This episode really does have it all.
