This one was definitely a nice, cotton candy of an episode, cleansing the palate for the crazy "omg, holy crap!" to come. "Hollywood A.D.," "Fight Club" and this one ramped up the lightheartedness to 11, really setting everyone up for a HUGE crash in "Requiem."
Hm...you know what? I don't remember this episode. I thought I was still watching the show at this point but maybe not after. Am so glad I have you guys saying great things so it just encourages me more to get through my marathon viewing.
I adore this episode; it's probably in my top 10. I made my grandparents watch it and now they're doing a complete series watch. It also created sort of an inside joke between my mom and I with the whole "golden wheelchair" thing. Now, we just use it as a metaphor for someone choosing something completely stupid when a better option is RIGHT THERE. And the "it's like giving a chimpanzee a revolver" line is quite possibly one of the best ever on all of TV. I love it that much.
It also makes me giggle a little because for Scully to have been pregnant enough to be getting dizzy/sick in 'Requiem', she totally had to be pregnant here. And she's drinking. Obviously it's minuscule and insignificant since she didn't know and it was one beer, but in the back of my mind it makes me go "hee, bad Scully."
This is definitely one of the best eps of Season 7. Gilligan is a genius.
Thoughts and observations: - The big scary boss zipping around in the tiny golf cart is so funny. - The "new" mouth reminds me of the Joker's in Dark Knight. - Boob TV remote! - Mulder and Leslie singing the I Dream of Jeannie theme song = awesome

"As he was writing 'Je Souhaite,' Gilligan remembered that he started to be concerned that he might be painting himself into a corner. 'I did not intend to make it a hard episode to direct. I thought I was writing a very simple story. But before I realized it, I was blowing up a trailer, having a truck hit an invisible man, and all sorts of strange genie effects
