"Breathe, Bella, breathe for me." Rosalie's voice slipped in and out of my consciousness.

It's not like it was necessary for me to be having a heart attack in the school bathroom during the winter dance but I felt like my heart had been broken all over again. Hot tears ran down my face, my hands trying to cover them up. I felt choked up and I thought my heart rate was off the charts. I didn't know what to do so I just sobbed.

"Please tell me what happened, Bella. It'll be okay."

Something inside of me cringed away from Rosalie's help. She was one of my best friends but the one I needed was Edward.

Edward was the first person I always went to. The person I told everything to - my secrets, insecurities, doubts; my whole, entire life. I trusted him with everything in the world. And only him. It came naturally because I knew he was different from everyone else. He knew what I was going through. He wouldn't just say to get over it. I needed him to survive in this world and I love him to death for being my savior.

On the other hand, Rosalie wouldn't really listen to my problems. She would think nothing of it and tell me to move on. It's not that easy and she doesn't know what it's like to get your heart broken. Even though she's beautiful, she's pretty weird. Sure, guys get crushes on her because she's pretty but they never ask her out since everyone knows what she's really like. Crazy. But I never thought she was crazy. She was pretty nice and funny and sweet. She's a good friend. But it was just so hard to open up to her.

Then there was Angela. I definitely couldn't console to her because she's partially the reason why I'm upset. Of course, it wasn't her fault but I could never tell her what was really wrong with me.

So I shook my head, still being unable to actually give her a real answer.

I closed my eyes and tried my best to take a deep, steady breath. My heart slowed down eventually and I sucked in disgusting but much needed air. I stared at the dirty bathroom tiles blankly between my fingers for a moment and then looked at Rosalie and Angela. I dropped my hands to my sides and smiled sheepishly. I stood up from the floor and sighed.

"Thanks... for everything." I apologized lamely. My hand moved up and down my arm. "All I need is to talk to Edward. Then I'll be fine." I went over to the sink and splashed my face with water. I pumped out a piece of paper towel and wiped it dry. I waited in front of the mirror until my face wasn't red anymore.

All the while, Rosalie and Angela stood behind me, stunned by my sudden change of emotions. They could swear I was bipolar.

Rosalie finally stepped up to me. "Bella, I don't think that's such a good idea."

I spun around and faced Rosalie. My face suddenly turned red again and my expression was angrier than ever. "Why not? Edward will understand."

"And I can't? Bella, just give me a chance. I don't know why you're so closed off from me all the time!" Rosalie spat back.

"I know you wouldn't understand. I'm your friend, remember?" I said, kind of condescendingly.

"Well if you really understood me, then you would've opened up to me once in a while. If you did, I would open up more to you. But because you're so closed down to me, how can you expect us to be that close? Tell me!" Rosalie screamed, throwing her hands up into the air. Luckily, the loud music coming from the gymnasium drowned out our ongoing fight.

"SHUT UP! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" I stormed out of the bathroom, steaming with anger.

Loud rap music flooded my ears as I walked back down the hall to the dance. I found Edward talking to Jessica, his current girlfriend. Ugh, I hated that bitch. I don't know what Edward sees in her. I could tell they were just making out by the lipstick on Edward's perfect lips. Jessica's eyes were glistening as she re-applied more lipstick.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and jumped. The shiver up my spine stopped my staring. I looked at who it was but it was just Alice. Her face was sad.

"Bella, I need to talk to you." Her voice was sincere. It sounded like she needed to talk about something serious so I went with her to talk in an empty hallway.

"What is it, Alice? What happened?" I asked, actually not concerned with my issues for once.

"It's about Edward." She breathed quietly.

I take that previous statement back. "Please, Alice. Can you just let that subject go for tonight?"

"No. When you were in the bathroom breaking down, I went to get Edward for you, but he was sucking face with that leech. I told him anyway but he just waved me away like it was none of his concern. Do you hear me, Bella? He doesn't give a shit about you. He's a selfish son of a bitch. You can't keep going back to him when you need help!" Alice explained the problem to me. I couldn't believe my ears. I didn't believe it.

"You're lying. Edward does care about me. It's just that he was busy. Even though I don't like Jessica, she's his girlfriend. I'll just text him later." I brushed it off.

Alice rolled her eyes. "That's part of the problem. Edward is too concerned with his god damn popularity. He barely talks to you in person anymore! Bella, you know you're not the most popular person in this school. Jessica is. That's just how it goes in this world."

"Edward wouldn't do that. I know him. You don't. So just butt out of my problems. I don't need anyone but Edward!" I yelled, my harsh words bouncing off the empty corridor walls.

Alice's face turned to hurt. She looked away from me for a moment. When she looked back at me, tears started flooding her eyes. If she blinked, all of them would come flowing down her cheeks. "Fine. If you don't need anyone but Edward, I guess you don't need me or Rosalie or Angela. We don't want to bother you any longer. Good night, Isabella."

She turned away and ran down the hall. She wiped wet tears off her face and sniffled.

I walked slowly over to the locker covered walls and held myself steady with my hand on them. I rested my forehead on locker 405, tears running down my cheeks for the second time that night.

I had totally destroyed three friendships in one night, and was my only one left really a friendship?

Just so you know, I am based on one of the characters but it's not Bella. Can you guess?
