as in i wonder when that is going to start happening with me. because honestly, it really hasn't happened at all. i have friends around my age that comment on it a lot, not feeling able to do the things they once did, feeling worn down, etc

i think dont deprive people a chance to bless you with stuff if they want to.
for them its not much and they want to do it, when you are in a position to reimburse them if you feel that you need to, maybe take them out to dinner and give them an envelope with the money in it.
maybe you could pop around and mow their lawns or something?

i'd take it.
im in a position to give my non working friends money sometimes and its a nice thing to do, and when i wasnt working my friends did it for me.

you should just tell that person what you said here. 'wow, gee, i REALLY appreciate that, but i feel weird taking hand-outs, and i am not in dire straits. i'm just selling stuff i don't need so that i can keep not working. i'm not really in need like it may seem. thanks though. it really shows what an awesome friend you are'

i did that when the person gave it to me, and they insisted, and basically said "hey, just let me do this for you," which is the only reason i took it at the time.
