i would have to disagree. for hundreds of years, women have had to conform to what their men want them to be...skinny, shorter, straight or curly hair, fair or dark skinned...the list goes one. it is going to take women a very long time to get out of that mode. the times have changed, but yet women still want to make sure they are the skinniest, tannest, and most beautiful woman any man has ever layed their eyes on. but, going further...women can often pay way too much attention on their looks to please a very sex-driven world, but forget about having a personnality. we want to look good on a man's arm, but not intice them with our intelligence and wit. i believe that all of those things are the most important...humor, intelligence, wit...and so on. yes, it is always a big plus to have a physically attractive and witty woman all in one...some women are blessed with both (in some peoples opinion). i happen to think that everyone is beautiful to someone. every man is attracted to different things. but, i do agree that there are women ( ... )

ya see, by always being self-consious about yourself, you see youself with a negative view, constantly. thus reducing moral, and sending into a spirling state of depression. thats probably over exagerated but you get the jist, lol.

it isn't that we are seeing ourselves in a negative light...just making sure we are looking good enough to fit the standard of which our society as set. although, some women do put themselves down for being over weight or a litte fluffy around the edges or not blonde. i say, embrace it. life would be boring if there were millions of blonde, skinny girls that looked like paris hilton running around. we need variety.

adding to that...
eventhough mean don't have that sort of pressure that women do, it is sort of assumed that they have to be built, have chizzled features and kind of rugged. which is nice, but no one is perfect.

An Interesting Topic You Have Presented anonymous May 28 2005, 21:03:08 UTC
I can only speak for myself, but I have witnessed many girls being defensive when they see other girls who intimidate them. I have seen this occur many times with my older sister, who when she sees a skinny girl, automatically assumes she is anorexic and makes fun of her. Me, on the other hand, I would much rather be watching a baseball game than comparing myself to other women. It's a matter or each individual's values. But what's the point in theses comparisons?!?! In twenty years, you, well at least I, won't even care about some stupid skinny girl. I must admit my opinions do not represent a very large portion of the female population because I simply do not care about clothes, makeup, etc. I am concerned with the Yankees, Colts, Tar Heels, oh yeah, and school.

for starters, not all girls go through your "question list." Yes, girls compare others to themselves but that's the only way to know how you feel about someone. Do you think they're pretty? Do you think they are intelligent or fun or hardworking or all of the preceeding? It's human nature to base your opinion of someone else off of yourself ( ... )
