So I owe Stonybrook about $1,200, Furacao about $400, my car is busted again and will cost at least $750, my credit card and phone bill is up which usually in all costs me about $500-600 a month over several bills and I currently have maybe $800 to my name. One possible thing to do - You can call your credit cards and see if they have any "Balance Transfer" offers available. If they do, it MIGHT be worth it, because then it's basically like a loan (they can put the money straight into your bank account). But you have to be careful. If you can get one with a good APR 3.99 % or lower and with no repayment deadline (i.e., you get that rate until the balance is paid off, not until june 2006 or something) AND if the the transfer fee is minimal or maybe even $0 - then it might be worth it. It's basically a loan from your CC but you have to be super careful cuz you know they're out there to fuck you (and if there is a deadline on repayment, you will almost certainly get f-ed and HARD)

Balance transfer is a good idea, cash advance on your credit card could also be an option. A personal load in the amount of $10,000 in which you consolidate all of your debt and make 1 low monthly payment and then have a few thousand in the bank to help you could also be a way to go. Or, you can just pay the absolute minimum balance on your credit card, cancel your cell phone or just don't pay it and have them shut it off (this does not effect your credit score). Call Stony Brook and ask for a deferrment. Pay Fura back ASAP othewise he will whoop you. I say this with complete love but for your own good, not that it will do much good now seeing as you have the ticket already, but maybe you should not be going to Brazil with such debt issues.
