Downloaded some anime via mediafire and torrent, and it seemed like it was somewhat slower but that may have just been me being overly conscious. Hopefully as long as I stay away from western media I won't be bothered as much...hmm....from a few forums I've browsed other people also seem to think this will be the case

Honestly, from an IT perspective, it's not realistic for them to monitor everyone's traffic. That will cost the ISPs wayyyyy too much money to pull off and as is they are pissy about money. I wouldn't worry so much.

Plus, Anime isn't exactly a prime target for it anyway, it would be for music and movies.

That's good :) I'm technologically inept, so I don't know how feasible it is. I just know that those big media corporations have been really coming down hard on pirating so not much they do would surprise me these days...

Its also only for their own IP. Funimation doesn't seem to really fight it or care, though if its fansubbed stuff that's out of market, then I don't see what the big deal is. I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't know much about it, but yeah, I think scanlated/fansubbed manga/anime is probably not a big enough issue for them to focus resources on looking for people downloading that stuff. I'm with your other friend; you probably only need to be concerned with music and movies, probably also software if you ever pirate any, and probably anything from The Pirate Bay, since they've had it out for them for a while (have they shut them down yet...?)

I hope it stays that way, 'cause right now my main interest is manga/anime!
I normally use kickass torrents because I find they have less pop-ups and embarrassing ads (unlike extratorrent....). Never used Pirate Bay.

Ooh, I like kickass torrents too. I only use the Pirate Bay for stuff I really shouldn't mention online.
