i started because of brians brother. i wrote to him almost every day when he was in bootcamp. and then when he got deployed he said my letters are what kept him going. for the others: i went through adoptaplatoon.org you have to "apply" and someone will contact you in about a month with your soldier's information (you request however many you can handle). you can either adopt a soldier which is writing a letter once a week and sending a package once a month (which is what i did for 4 of them). or you can be a penpal a send a weekly card/letter. (which is what i do now for 2 of them). =)
i just put in an application to adopt 1 soldier. (i'm afraid that if i do too many at first i'll overwhelm myself and in the end just feel bad because i am overwhelmed haha)
but i'm realllllyy excited!
10 bucks says that when i tell michael this he's gonna be like "you've never even sent ME a package and you're gonna send some to some random dude!" hahahah. whatevs!! thanks for that :)
