I do speak a little Russian (I should know a lot more of it though, as I've been learning it for almost 8 years ...-_-), and it's not hard to learn, but anyway...it doesn't really sound "good" either, more "interesting" :P But knowing German, English, Spanish and Russian is a good mix if you ask me :D
you're right, it is a good mix. it's just that I would want to invest my time in something I honestly feel I would have the chance to use someday, and somehow I don't think I'd speak Russian very often. =P
i seem to like languages with romance/germanic roots, though, so i've thought --> italian, portuguese, french or dutch
i love italian, but i am horrible at speaking it, and i've never liked french very much at all. *sigh* i'm so hopeless. i wish i could try them all and see which one i like best. =P
Yeah French doesn't really sound good to me either. Kinda gay (not that that would be negative... I just don't really like the sound of it) :P Portuguese is similar to Spanish so I don't think it'd be something completely new. And the same thing for Dutch, similar to German (at least I understand a lot of it when I hear people talking).
But hey, there are a lot of people in the world that do speak Russian! :p
true! portuguese is similar to spanish, but it's got french in it, too! -__- HAHA. (no disrespect to the language. i love languages, i just don't like how french sounds. then again, lots of them probably think english is the ugliest language ever.)
You would kick ass at Portuguese and Italian... with Spanish, they'd be sooo easy to learn for you. I can understand Portuguese and I've never taken a class in my life. I would personally like to learn Arabic someday... or at least study it a little bit. And of course, Japanese.
i've been thinking i'd go with portuguese, but i'm still not sure. i guess it'd be easier if i could take a class. (or, better yet, knew someone who spoke it) =/
I envy you... we barely have Arabic and Japanese at my university. :-P They offer them as non-credit courses, and recently they've begun to offer Arabic as a credit course, but I doubt it goes beyond two semesters. I'm hoping to take up Portuguese in grad school.
jaja..¿ahora me entiendes mejor?
