I'll start with this, my most interesting web-related addiction (which is to say that Craigslist is probably not that interesting to others, although I really am addicted):

avclub is pretty cool, if not a little slow on updates, but this ( Read more... )

I learned how put needles into bones. I haven't done it on a person yet, but I'm told it's kind of crazy when you feel the needle pop through the bone into the marrow. I don't know if I would have the coordination to do it on a mouse bone though. I would assume that the needle I use is about the same size as the entire bone you are piercing.

Yeah, my boss told me that a needle we use for aspiration in our lab is used for bone marrow extraction in hospitals and it's HUGE and painful looking.

It's cool though. There's stem cells in bone marrow and so they can generate new cells--macrophages and stuff.

yeah, I don't think I could do research stuff. I don't know exactly what you do , but from what I've seen of labs at the hospital and what I've done in histology and heard about microbiology, I don't think I'd be able to work in a lab. it's good that you like that stuff though, I'm not studious enough for labwork or anything like that. I can't imagine what it would be like using an Intraosseous needle on a mouse bone. I'm not sure if the needle we use for intraosseous infusion is the same as for marrow exraction in the hospital, but even if it's not it seems for extraction it would have to be even bigger.

P.S. every person that I've seen in the lab at st.johns oakland is asian. Is labrotory work dominated by asians or is the hospital I do clinical at racist?

Labwork isn't so bad. It takes practice and carefullness, which I sometimes lack, but I get by.

OMG, seriously, everyone is asian.
