I haven't written about this, but since last April I have been trying to get into school at GMU. I have faced a lot of obstacles and even had to send a second application. Yesterday they had me come in for an interview. I had to have a digital portfolio and 20 pieces of physical art. I got to the school early, even looked at the school map before I ( Read more... )

it would be really sad to me if you let them tell you what is important as art. i'm sure your pieces feel deep to you, and that is what is most important. the thing about schools is they reserve that "right" to have snobbery and judge the potential students...instead of encouraging your abilities and education! i suggest you continue to make as much art as possible, and hopefully it will inspire your mind toward your next move.

i will always make art.. its just what i've done all my life.. if i stopped painting it would be like a normal person never going to the bathroom ever again. my problem is i dont know where to go next as a career step. They are the only school in the area that offer the degree I need to become an art teacher. so if they deny my admission I'm completely lost. I dont even know what my artwork has to do with me becoming a teacher.
