tomorrow night i'm heading back to ri for a long weekend. i sort of can't wait. i'm so so so ready to not be in ny. i really need to get my head on straight, and hopefully a couple days with my parents taking care of me will help

Baseball says, "spring is around the corner, take heart!" I have a dim memory of Rutter, not the Requiem, but of *some* choral music that I performed in a different lifetime. I just can't remember what.

Speaking of baseball and NESN and related topics, today I received in the mail a letter with a Fenway Park return address...'twas a reply from Papi (a form letter, of course) to an encouragement card I sent him sometime last season. Looks like it may have been hand signed, my poor old eyes couldn't tell. And as a token of appreciation, enclosed was his official team photo. The letter closed with "un gran abrazo." Put a Papi-sized grin on my face, and both items went directly into my baseball shrine. :)

my dad's best childhood friend was visiting for part of the time, so i got to see one of my 'uncles' - a bit awkward, since he's one of those people i find very difficult to read - i'm never sure if he's joking or not. but he kept dad in good humor, so that's pretty priceless right there.
