Visitors & Faeries & Contact Juggling, oh my!

This was a great weekend. First off, I got my first real, full paycheck at my new job. Later Friday, teriel & lupabitch came down for FaerieWorlds here in EUG and have been crashing here at Triflorian. I finally went to FW today as I had the day off. I also saw atlas_mason doing his thang at FW ( Read more... )

I love contact juggling! YAY!

I hope that you were able to take in some of the bands that played at Fairieworlds. The lead singer of Tricky Pixie is a very good friend of mine.

I have no idea who played when, other than Faun played Saturday night and was a big draw (I only went most of Sunday). I didn't pay much attention to the music, although to be fair, the music I heard was better than I had anticipated. I liked the airy non-vocal stuff (as this is my musical bias), but when they started singing about bards and stuff, I kinda tuned it out.

I wonder if Tricky Pixie was playing Sunday...

And yes. I've seen Contact Juggling done for years, but only learned that it was called this--along with enough lessons to hook me--yesterday. I spent several hours last night doing some exercises and playing with my new Crystal Ball. I'm having a lot of fun with this--I don't know that I'll take CJ to the level I have Dancing, but we'll see. I mainly like doing one ball in the hands, although having a ball in each hand could be something I'd also be interested in. But having great control over a single ball will keep me plenty busy for many moons, I'm sure ;-)

Well, you know my obsession for Labyrinth, and therefore can guess how I feel about CJ. Not really the sort of thing I'm good at personally, but I *love* to watch others do it. So would be happy to be your audience anytime, if you want one. :)

Currently, it's giving me a reason to half-watch old movies whilst Practicing in the living room seated (which is more difficult than when standing). I've got cushions for the floor, but I hafta remember to keep my feet extended and apart or I tend to drop the ball on my feet/ankles a lot.

It's fun Learning something for the sake of the simple Challenge & Fun of Learning an Entertaining Art. I have a feeling I will be carrying my new Crystal Ball around with me a lot, so I'm sure you'll have ample opportunity to see me in action--hopefully not at the expense of something valuable ;-)

Contact juggling is fun. I'm still quite terrible at it, but I once plied a skilled juggler with lots of beer to show me the basics. I use a small glass sphere. I tried it with one of the large Baoding balls, but the moving weight inside was more than I could compensate for, so I inevitably dropped it.

I just read your bio about the coyotes. You know just for a laugh I check out lilchiva/lilshita's journal about once a year. So were you playing the "coyote" when you were apparently engaged in talking seriously to that mindless lunatic-idiot concerning some of its typically vague, mindless-idiot lunacy about self-hypnosis? Ahahahaha, all that moron has ever been able to hypnotize itself to do is spew mindless-idiot lunacy. Ahahahahahaha, an absolute scream! That certainly added to the entertainment of a few idle moments.
