STAFF PLOT: THE FINAL COUNTDOWN
For the sake of expediency, and not having this drag out since the exploration log has taken a while to near completion, the Brain Trust meeting will not be logged. However, all the important bits that people would have learnt from it will be contained within this post (and I'll make a thread if anyone wants anything specific noted).
LAST TIME ON STAFF PLOT: THE WRATH OF SORAN
Our staff heroes were surprised by Soran on the space station and awoke to find he had taken his mysterious deep space probe and Weapons-grade Trilithium and vanished. This cannot be good. Having taken back data from the station and consulted with their lovely pals at S.H.I.E.L.D, they discover something interesting.
Soran is old, very old. In fact, he is centuries old. He first came into S.H.I.E.L.D's radar when he was rescued from a mysterious anomaly. Apparently in some state of shock, he demanded to go back. Sound familiar? It should. That was approximately seven years ago, and it appears he is still attempting to return. The anomaly has been described by other survivors as a nexus of joy, a place outside reality where all your dreams come true. It appears the only way to enter the nexus is via the energy ribbon travelling through the area currently. Harmless enough, right? Only you can't fly a ship directly into it, it has to come to you
From Soran's scans, it appears he has been studying ways to change the path of the ribbon for this purpose. Unfortunately for everyone else, he seems to have come to the conclusion the best method is to fire a probe into the sun and, effectively, kill everyone.

There's no time to lose, you'll have to stop him. That shouldn't be so hard now you know what he's up to, right? He's only one guy!
Wrong.
All staff who participate in this plot will be dragged into the Nexus along with Soran. No staff or students who are not a part of this will be, or even realise anything has happened as essentially the staff will travel back in time and undo it before it happens. Exciting! But on to the questions:
How will the actual post work?
⊗ There will be an initial thread modly started if anyone wants to have spoken to Soran right before things all blow to hell, another thread for people to start their own Nexus Narratives under, and a final for when people regroup to go back and stop Soran before everything goes wrong. Since time means absolutely nothing in the Nexus, you can have had your character live out an entire lifetime or just 10 minutes there before someone finds them. It is totally up to you!
Are characters that live out long periods of time in the Nexus aged when they return?
⊗ If you want them to be. If you don't want to be we can say... magical... nexus flux meant they stayed the same physically.
What can Nexus realities entail?
⊗ Anything your little heart desires. Or, more specifically, anything your character's heart desires. Dead people can be alive, you can have never been a mutant -- you can also npc 'echoes' of other characters, however please use this ooc post to gain permission before npcing any characters currently in game.
How will staff escape the nexus?
⊗ They have to want to leave. For those with strong willpower, they can easily go looking for the others -- if that is what they want they can simply walk until they enter another's dream world. However, bear in mind it will not be easy to make some characters leave. Please sort out who will rescue who before doing it, so nobody accidentally steps on someone else's plans!.
Why can't they just beat Soran over the head first?
⊗ He's had 7 years + to plan this. He's not stupid enough to think people wont try to stop him. He activated a shield around his launch site -- and unfortunately for you all, it's anti-technopathy. You can throw yourself at it and try to de-activate it all you want, it wont budge.
But they will stop Soran?
⊗ Once they remember that time means nothing in the Nexus, they can gather everyone up and leave so they arrive before Soran and get the jump on him. DON'T ASK, IT IS MAGICAL.
