But it was still a slow-going one, which meant that he was far from perfect at it. And when, on his way back from the laundry room, Hajime caught a glimpse of a red-headed youth barreling through the halls and loaded high on papers, he couldn't help but feel the suspicion rising back in. Jack jumped a good foot in the air, dropping the blueprints and notes everywhere. He spun around and ducked back, arms over his face protectively, and then his brain caught up with reality.
"Oh. It's you."
He straightened back up, sounding less condescending than he meant and more simply annoyed. "What are you doing following me around, huh? That's just creepy."

Hajime's stance hovered somewhere between his formal arm-crossing, and something more casual and less rigid. Even as he was accusing Jack of malicious intent (that he well knew the boy was capable of, unfortunately), he couldn't bring himself to put on too harsh an attitude. He strode over to some of the fallen papers and picked them up, glancing over the prints.
"And let's be honest here, anything that involves your apparent mentor is something I've well earned the right to be suspicious of."
