So, I just got back from the movies and 146 minutes of Harry Potter.
First and foremost, I have to say I'm satisfied. I was a little apprehensive about the last movie, as the book has so much action and so much going on at every page, I was afraid they would've cut out most of it to fit the 2 hours and 26 minutes.
In fact, I thought they would do with this last movie what they've done with the previous one. Don't kill me if you don't agree, but the sixth movie was an abomination in comparison with the book. Obviously they wouldn't put all forgot-how-many pages in two hours of movie, or they would have made HPB Part 1 & 2 as well. And since the sixth book is far from being my favorite, then I certainly wouldn't welcome two parts of it now (or ever for that matter).
The movie itself was good, really good, just as everyone said all over the place. They managed to put quite a lot in the limited time they had (really, why not make 2 parts of 4 hours?) and delivered a somewhat faithful adaptation of the book.
I know hardcore fans will say they should've put this scene or that scene, but let's face it, unless you were prepared to watch 10 hours of movie, then you should be happy with what you got. And if you really wanted to see all the scenes, then go read the damn book. (I'm evil, I know)
I just thought they used too many scenes switch. At one point I had to close my eyes, because it was giving me headaches... I think they want us to get epileptic or something...
I was sad when Snape's patronus appeared. Reminds me of what's going to happen to him on part 2. The memory scene will definitely make me cry, I'm sure of it. (And that's a feature, as I hardly ever cry watching/reading/listening to anything)
Harry and Hermione's kiss was hawt~ It would've been better if the actor who plays Harry were someone else, though. I can't like Dan, no matter how hard I try. He's so not the Harry I have in my mind (perhaps when he was eleven, yes, but after he was thirteen or fourteen, the magic was gone).
The movie was funny, thanks to Rupert's acting, most of the time (and that comes from someone who hates Ron's character). I believe he'll grow into a fine actor. Same with Emma.
The whole journey to the movies was an adventure by itself as well. We took the bus (argh), and what was supposed to take 40 minutes, took us almost a whole hour. Thankfully I'm aware of how the mind of those bus drivers work and we left home 1 hour and a half before our session. When we got there, there were TWO huge lines that ran all across the mall, and I was like OMG OMG OMG OMG.. -shoots self-. I was literally shaking from fear.
But I had bought the tickets one day before that (clever, I know). So my mother was the one who went around asking where we could print our tickets and then we had to face a mere THREE PEOPLE line to get our tickets. Obviously the people around us were glaring at our backs, burning with jealousy (hey, the internet is there people, USE IT).
The room was at its fullest capacity. I was so fucking nervous the whole time.
I hadn't drink anything since 12:30 pm. And our session was at 3:00pm. So yes, I was terribly thirsty. But I couldn't drink anything, because I have a very sensitive bladder. If I had drank even a tiny bit, I would've left the room three or four times during the movie, and I just couldn't do that. So yes, I spent five hours without a single drop of water.
And finally we got a cab home (fuck you, damn bus).
I've got both of my feet badly hurt as well, but I think, in the end... it was well worth it.
Can't wait for Part 2!!! ♥
