Dear fandom,

More especifically, the fanbrats!

SHUT UP

I don't care if you're upset with HoMin, I care even less if you're mad at JYJ. Really, I don't.

And most of all, I don't give a fuck if you think fans should not boycott SM, because that'll make Yunho and Changmin suffer.

Let me tell you something, the world works that way. Boycotts and strikes exist with one purpose: getting people to listen. You don't get people to listen if you treat them well and try to get things done amicably. You don't get people to listen if you lower your head and accept everything they tell you. And you most certainly won't get people to listen if you wait for someone else to do that for you.

And you know why?

Because no one gives a damn about what you think and what you want. Especially not a company, a big company. (Any company, not just SM).

Do people get hurt in the process? More often then not, yes. Unfortunately that's part of the whole thing. If you don't bother someone somehow, then you'll most likely be ignored. Or worse.

Yunho and Changmin are puppets. They do what SM tells them to do, and that pretty much means everything when it comes to SM. But they are also adults (yes, stop calling them BOYS FOR CHRIST's SAKE), and as adults they are the only ones responsible for themselves. That means, if they don't take a decision, then no one will do that for them.

Staying on SM was a decision they both made.

Of course this probably has to do with the way they were raised by their parents and the Korean society in general. But that doesn't take away the fact they chose to stay.

And they also chose to write that letter. Letter that until a while ago I was sure it was forged by SM, now I'm not so sure anymore...

As for the other three, they have chosen to leave (as any normal people would ROFL), and they knew their path would not be an easy one. SM would make sure of that, just as they've done with HOT and Shinhwa before.

For the older kpop fans, you know what happened, or at least have heard about it. It's amazing that after three times, people still don't get that SM is not a place you'll want to go if you intend to make a long, healthy career.

And don't even try to tell me that SM's contracts are not really abusive. Let's see...

② The Artist must perform activities decided upon by the company diligently during the contract period, and cannot perform activities on its own. If this is violated, the clauses on Article 11 clauses ①, ②, and ③ will be in effect.

(They kindly forgot to mention in the contract that SM does not care if you are sick or dying).

⑤ The Artist transfers the rights to copy, distribute, broadcast, concerts, karaoke, compilation, remake and other rights of the lyrics, compositions and arrangements created under the contract to the Company.

As a programmer, I know what it feels like when your work is 'transferred' to the company and then they use that as they wish, leaving you bare-handed. It's not right, and that's why now I make backups of part of the code I write and I send it to myself everyday. No one's making a fool out of me anymore. (I'm talking about generic/auxiliary bits of code here, not specific big systems, those are property of the company, even though they're 100% coded by me as well lol)

⑨ The company can use the lyrics, songs, and arrangements created by the Artist on other albums produced by the Company other than the Artist's own album.

...

I wouldn't mind if we were talking about songs written by someone under SM. But the artist himself SHOULD have the rights over his own compositions (as any artist out there do, except in Korea of course).

Article 5 (Company's responsibilities)

(Then they list 2 itens... what?)

③ In the event the broadcasting or concerts is disrupted because of the Artist's personal reasons, the Company or the manager needs to be notified in advance, and if the problem arises without any valid reason, the Artist needs to take the responsibility.

Oh, right, that's why they used to hit their artists.

Article 7 (The Artist's rights)

The Artist can refuse the Company's request if the request is not part of the Artist's responsibility.

(They forgot to mention that it leaves very little out, since their responsibilities cover everything).

① When the Artist releases an album as a singer, the Artist is paid 50million KRW when 500,000 copies not including returns are sold at the time the next album is released.

50million, wow! That sure seems a lot. But wait! Let's make a quick calculation here. Mirotic sold over 500k copies, which means DBSK got 50million KRW for it. That, divided by 5 it's 10million KRW for each one of the members. At today's rates it's roughly USD 8,885.30. Now it doesn't seem that much, does it?

Then the profit, which is about 5% if the artist sold over 200k copies of a product. Let's round Mirotic's price to USD14 (I paid 16 on mine, but since they're cheaper in physical stores and a little more expensive online, we'll use an approximation). Now, 14 multiplied by 500k is USD 7million. The profit is what's left after the costs of production are removed. The final price is normally a few times the cost of the same product. Let's say it's 3 times. So the cost was almost USD 5,00 per CD. That leaves us with USD 2.5million total in production costs. So we have USD 4.5million profit. 5% of it it's USD 225k, divided by 5 and we get to a total of USD 45,000.

If we add up both results, then we'll get to a total of USD 53,885.30. For 1 album. Now imagine getting that after 1 year and 7 months of hiatus. Lucky for them, they have Japan, that's where their REAL money comes from. Could you live with 50k a year (consider that you're a big star, not just a random person)? Because the above result works for Mirotic, but Rising Sun and O did not get as many copies sold. (And that's true for other SM artists as well... Can you imagine Suju?!)

② The Artist need to pay 3 times the total investment (promotional fees and other expenses paid or used in any form), and reimburse twice the amount of the potential lost profits for the remainder of the contract period. 5)

It speaks for itself...

And just a little something else, because people should fucking stop defending SM:

The CD postponement thing did happen to Shinhwa but H.O.T was not directly involved in it. Shinhwa's debut was actually a flop and because SM lost money on their launch, they were put in the back burner. The members were disappointed but they felt that they should try once more. SM Entertainment said ok and Shinhwa started getting ready for the 2nd album. However, SM did not give them any songs to sing for the follow-up album, nor were they given people to work with. They had no songwriters, producers and choreographers (everyone was busy tending to H.O.T and S.E.S because they were SM's biggest money maker). Because they wanted to become successful, the 6 members of Shinhwa took it upon themselves to write their songs and do their choreography for their T.O.P album.

(This actually came directly from Dongwan during a YSMM guesting.)

I remember seeing that interview.

I'm amazed that people are judging JYJ, when they're doing nothing but the best for them. Obviously that's not the best for SM, and they'll do whatever they can to bring them down. As they've done to JTL, and to Shinhwa in the past.

Why didn't HoMin go with JYJ then? As I've said, probably because of their families. Jaejoong said the three of them knew there was a possibilitythey would never sing again, and perhaps Yunho and Changmin were afraid this might have happened, and the money they get was worth more than the risk of losing it all.

I'm not happy with Yunho and Changmin lately. No. I'm pissed, utterly pissed. But it's not because of DBSK, JYJ, SM, whatever. It's because of a few subtle things said here and there and the fact none of them has even mentioned the other three. Not even to say 'I hate that bastards!'. Until they do say something, I'm going to be mad at them. And no, SM's new version of 'Hey! Don't bring me down' will not make me change my mind.

I'm not blind and I do know they most likely haven't say anything because of SM. But it does not erase the fact I'm mad at them. I still love them, hope they'll succeed, but I'm still mad. It's how I work.

But I don't go out there tweeting like crazy of leaving comments on blogs and websites on how much I'm mad at them. That's so fucking childish! Do grow up, please.

As for DBSK ever coming back as 5? Don't count on it. It's quite clear both sides will not give in to the other's demands. DBSK now means 2 members, and if you're uncomfortable with it, they you might as well quit the fandom asap, because things won't be changing any time soon (ever, in my opinion).

tldr; I hate SM and I'll boycott them all the way to hell. I'm mad at HoMin, although I still love them. And JYJ are fierce. Period.
