Another song translation! This one, hmm. Hmm. It's a very romantic song? But at the same time, the words aren't really romantic at all |D But maybe kinda???? Mixed feelings.

Kanji:
Translation: Satsuma-Choushuu Love
You from Choushuu couldn’t provide any weapons
But you were pouting with a sulky look
On that day I was just acting tough
Saying that the overthrow of the shogunate was impossible
Even though the time we agreed on had come, you from Satsuma
Suddenly canceled saying you had urgent business, right?
Of course I’ll apologize to you, but
I have some guns I’d like you to see
I can’t forgive the shogunate that only punishes you
Even though there’s no lie in how I feel
If nobody was pushing me from behind
I wouldn’t be able to see anything
The sounds of Westernization haven’t yet begun to ring,
But I’m going to sit down and have a conference with you
That “da ze yo” guy will get mad at us, so
Satsuma and Choushuu, yes, Satsuma and Choushuu
Will join hands
Even if we try discussing a list of words that are a little difficult
Like “Revering the emperor and expelling foreigners” or “marrying the shogunate to the Imperial family”
Before we knew it, we realized
That the two of us share the same feelings
On the anniversary of August 18th,
When you suddenly rushed out of town
It’s tough, but I’ll remember, so
Satsuma and Choushuu, yes, Satsuma and Choushuu are hanging their heads in shame
If we just decided on a place and time
I thought everything would go well, but
If you don’t make progress in your negotiations
I’ll smack your butts to get you moving ze yo
The sounds of Westernization haven’t yet begun to ring,
But I’m going to sit down and have a conference with you
That “da ze yo” guy will get mad at us, so
Satsuma and Choushuu, yes, Satsuma and Choushuu will join hands
Look, Satsuma and Choushuu, yes, Satsuma and Choushuu, are smiling.
Historical Notes:
Satsuma and Choushuu historically did NOT get along at all, but eventually their leaders managed to get it together with the help of Sakamoto Ryouma, who acted as a neutral third-party intermediary. He probably didn't actually literally smack anybody's butt, but who knows.
Choushuu didn't have many modern guns and that sort of thing, which left it unable to fight against the shogunate, so Satsuma, which was a rich domain with many ties to foreign merchants, helped provide them with guns. This really helped them win the Boshin War, which was primarily fought by these two against the shogunate.
Satsuma used to be allied very strongly with Aizu and the shogunate, and favored the "marrying the shogunate to the imperial family" approach along with Aizu, whereas Choushuu disapproved of the direction the leadership was taking and favored the "revere the emperor, expel the barbarians" position. On 8/18/1863, these two factions clashed and the Choushuu supporters were driven from Kyoto.
...and apparently Sakamoto Ryouma's catchphrase was "ze yo." Who knew? (Not me)
This Wiki article helped me a lot with this one :O
