So after the last few days, I'm rather sure I don't have a heart condition. If I did, I think I'd have had issues by now ( Read more... )

My scariest freeway episode was definitely driving alone down 280 south one night and realizing that the headlights approaching in the opposite direction were in my lane. Playing chicken at 80+ mph for me and probably over 100mph for them is NOT my idea of fun.

But there were absolutely no witnesses, and I was so confused by it that I didn't have the presence of mind to call 911 until I realized I had no idea where they were by now.

The only reason I'm sure it happened is that before that it had never occurred to me that headlights headed my way could be on my side of the freeway, and now I regularly worry I'll see it again when I come around a bend that has lights from the other side pointing at me.

....uh, that's more then just a bit scary. I've seen some out of it drivers, but that takes the cake and the plate it's on too.

What part of 280 though? Evidently I don't spend enough time down here anymore if I can't bring up a mental image of any part of the top of my head that doesn't have some kind of largeish divider in the middle. Greenery, concrete or just plain space.

Oh there was PLENTY of Divider - the other side of the freeway was an entirely different level.

This person had to have actively chosen to turn around and drive the wrong way after entering the freeway on my side.

I kind of suspected it was either somebody really whacked out on something, or somebody very consciously thrill-riding.
