This scene was deleted mostly because I dislike Jonathan Archer. I honestly wanted to bring the Treks closer together, but it soon became too much fodder. This scene and one that Number One and Captain Pike will have a similar scene in the prequel

Truthfully, I really don't like Jonathan Archer although I love Sam Beckett Scott Bakula.
I wrote another scene with Number One and Captain Pike relaying the same information. One of the missing scenes my friend wanted was one with Spock meeting Pike. Since Pike was less interested in the Vulcans than he was in Number One's reaction to Spock, it should read vastly different, I hope. :)

Anyway, is it reasonable to expect a fic, in the not so distant future, centering around Spock's early experiences and development as a Starfleet cadet? I'm just asking...
Thank you for sharing this lovely deleted scene. I enjoyed reading it, as always with your writing. I think I'll start re-reading Upheaval. Happy New Year!
Toodles!

I find other people's soapboxes to be quite intriguing. I absolutely love how we watch the same events and interpret them differently. It's absolutely fascinating.
centering around Spock's early experiences and development as a Starfleet cadet? If I can find myself a Trekkie navy officer, I'm sure I could pull this off. I have given this serious thought and this is something I wish to explore and bring to light. At the same time, I must bring Nyota in during this time frame as well and that (sigh) will take some doing. I need an engineer... As you can see, I am a high maintenance fan fiction writer. I'm never satisfied with just what *I* know ( ... )

I know it seems petty but its one of my irritations and not a reflection on your writing skills cos they are good.

I thought we had this discussion before. You're making presumptions without having *all* of the information. In this case, it's virtually impossible to predict where things are going because I've only shared one scene, which does not a story make.
1) T'Pol, like Spock, is viewing Vulcan society based on her own perceptions of reality. Just because she thinks like this, doesn't make it true.
2) If you read Upheaval and determined that I was glorifying humans and human nature, then there is definitely a disconnect somewhere. Gathright wasn't created to merely abuse Nyota and Spock. He served a much larger purpose and will do so in the future ( ... )
