Rise As God

//cries a little bit because lovely Kokayz uploaded TVXQ's last album for the next two years a day early and I wasn't expecting it and I was on tumblr and then BAM it was all over and I'm just alksfjklsd so beautiful ;A;

All of the songs are exceptionally lovely but god, I love Changmin's solo track "Rise As One". It just hit me in the feels and then his other solo track "Apology" just made me want to cuddle the album in a fetal position and never let it go because it's just so damn beautiful. Yunho's solo tracks are just as lovely but I like them... to an extent. They're clearly dance tracks whereas Changmin's are a mix of R&B/Soul/bright-spirted tunes-- like "Champagne" is a happy/chill-ish dance track and "Komplikated", which is definitely, definitely a club song-- which isn't really a genre I'm into? (But I also got to them after listening to Changmin's solo tracks... Probably the sudden mood switch that made me feel a bit ick about them but eh, we'll see.)
Their other tracks sung as a duo and while I do like them as well, I'm definitely a fan of "Vertigo" but everything else... not so much. Like everything is just really... low beat? (how to english omg) I get that the R&B/Soul songs would be low beat and smooth but the dance songs are too even though they're trying to be happy and bright? They're even lower beat/softer than the softer dance tracks off of their Tense album. But maybe they'll grow on me, idk. I'll listen to them a few more times before I can really decide whether or not I like them.

But to be honest, the one track that struck me the most and made me like it instantly was Changmin's "Apology". It was like listening to "Before U Go" for the first time-- you feel the angst and the feelings all over it and you just go "This is it. I'm done for. My life is going to be a mess for the next few days. B y e w o r l d." I'm honestly going to listen to this one song from the album over and over again until I finally get sick of it. (and maybe get on to listening to the rest of the album-- //slapped)

nice feels, tvxq, fangirl commentary
