Gerard leaned his head against the car window, glass cool against his forehead. Lights flashed, along with trees, signs, and radio stations - it hurt his head after a while. They’ve been driving for the past two days and Gerard didn’t want to count up the miles anymore.
It was Christmas, but it didn’t look any different from any other day and Gerard was thankful because it’d make him miss his family even more.
Gerard felt a hand on his knee, and Bert whispered, “weird, we’ve ran away for miles and days and it still feels like home with you here.”
