So, let’s see... my apartment is still a mess. I have ideas on how to arrange/store things, but I just need to move on them, which is always my problem. But work is so busy for me these days, so tv and the couch when I get home are so nice! Too nice, probably. Although I did make some good progress on it on the 4th, so I’m pretty pleased about ( Read more... )

I had to have a more serious chat with one of my students a few weeks ago. She's been unreliable and frequently late.

What would Randy do in this situation? He would give her a raise!

Before I left my job I had a new assistant and we actually got along quite well. Upfront she told me how she reacts to certain things and I did too. I told her that I'm very focused and that sometimes the focus might seem to focused. She said, I know what you mean, because I noticed that.

Then I quit. :)

Not because of her, but in a nutshell, because my focus wasn't appreciated by the company. I feel bad that I left her with all the shit, but when push comes to shove, I have to look out for my "self-interests" .. whatever that means.. lol

ooooh. Pink Martini has a fun website.. Sampling some tracks now.. fun stuff, is this like bossa nova kinda stuff? I like.

I'm sure you're better than you think you at work.

But that apartment?!?! Just kidding. I know it's a royal pain. Just do one box a day. Really. It'll help.

The concert was very much fun--I'm really glad I went. And, we saw Rick Bayless on the Metra afterwards!

And I've been converting people to the 'tini', which is fun.

Yup, it was at Ravinia. I think it was the last Sunday of June--it was muy fantastico. I have their new album, called Hey Eugene!, and it's great. I don't have their second one, Hang On Little Tomato, yet, but I will be buying it soon. I saw it at the Virgin close-out, but it wasn't reduced enough for my taste. And then when I went back, they were completely gone (at that point, the sale was still only 35% off!)

The Pink Martini Myspace page has four full-length songs, at last check, the title songs from Tomato and Eugene were on it.

There are also some vids on You Tube.
