October is National Breast Cancer Awareness MonthWhy is this an issue I feel so strongly about? My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998 and recovered, and was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in 2001. She is not expected to live through it. Thank you for putting this out there. I'd just like to add that Breast Cancer awareness is not an issue for women alone. My only brush with the issue was when they took a cancerous lump from my dad. Scary, and everyone looks at me funny when I say it, but put it out there that women aren't the only ones that need to be wary. That lump on a guy's chest could be cancer too . . .

Hi I took number 31 and 41 LJ icons for this so I can post on my LJ. I have a friend who right before she turned 30 was diagnosed with breast cancer that I've been trying to support and also in the past I've had friends whose Mom's had it. I've been passing on the Lifetime URL that allows you to sign (and are being passed on by a congresswoman to the House) if you are against "Drive Thru Mastectomies" since I found out about them (when my friend had to have hers). If you would like that URL let me know and I'll send it to you (you probably already know though). I've also been wearing a pin and buying the really nice Proflowers bouquet of pink roses for my women friends for the past couple of years (since they started offering them) all year long off and on since a large part of the profits go to support breast cancer research. I'm going to put your LJ address on today's post on my LJ so that more women can come to your site (and maybe some guys too ( ... )
