SP 06

Spring 2006, apparently, won't be too demanding. I will be teaching only one class this semester, therefore, it should not to be as stressful as the semesters in the past. Of course, in other ways, teaching one class will be hell. But, well, it could always be worse. I am also subbing and doing private English tutoring, which is not much of a load.

Muhahahaha, I applied to four grad schools so far. Am I going to want to show an interest in a credential program??? Or will I be just fine with a Master's?

Well, first of all, are you interested in teaching after you finish your degree? If so, I strongly recommend you finish off with a PhD. A PhD may not be in your plans, but trust me, because I did not plunge into it immediately, I am somewhat suffering. Again, that is if being a "part-time" instructor will not be a problem for you. Perhaps, a credential program may be more suitable for you. Especially if you plan to teach at the high school level. If so, you will definitely not need a PhD. What route are you interested in taking, again?

and....GOOD FOR YOU! I am glad you applied! *pats Mariana on the back* ^^

I started to decide against high school not too long ago. I really want something higher but I was letting the idea of PhD intimidate me. Part time instruction doesn't seem so bad, but does it allow time for one to pursue something after a Master's?

Of course you can pursue something after your Master's, but in today's world of teaching (college+) a PhD is most suitable. Would you be willing to study for a PhD? I thought about it for a long time. I am certainly very interested in going back to school. Just don't know when. Also, why is it intimidating? You're a smart woman, don't limit yourself, you can have any star you'd like, so long as you work HARD for it. ;-)
