For the record, I got a job that way, once -- I was hired with a bunch of other temps and was going to be assigned to solder circuit boards, and mentioned to one of the managers that I was a technician, and he said, oh, well, then you go talk to this other guy ... and then I was a technician, with rather a lot more pay.

Awesome. The idea of the piece was a very mundane anecdote... made surreal by technology unlike what we're used to, and equally incomprehensible to the narrator.

Well, to be fair, I scare myself sometimes. This was based in part on a dream I had, so my conscious self didn't have full participation.
