7am.
I got up at 7am to head onto public transport for half an hour to rush onto the University campus, two crucial pieces of paper needing printing with ten minutes to be at the Drama centre to perform.
One a piano sheet music sheet, the other lyrics, both for the traditional "We wish you a merry Christmas", which now that I've burned it into my brain with a red hot laser beam, I will never be able to remove.
We wish you a merry Christmas,
We wish you...GAHH!
Anyway, I raced around the University library, looking for a printer, and thankfully I found one, and sent it to the print queue.
Nothing.
I asked a librarian, and you apparently needed a student or photocopy/printer card, which you could buy with a $1 coin, and ONLY a $1 coin.
I had two $5 notes and they didn't give change in the library.
I raced downstairs, thankfully the campus has stores for students to access, and asked for change, raced up and bought the card, only to find that they printed anyway.
I now own a card with $0 credit, which I mistook for a card with $1 credit - it costs $1 to own a damn card in the first place!
Anyway, rushing away with the music sheets, I got to Drama, and we did some of the oddest warmups I've ever seen/been a part of, and finally just rested.
I was fortunate enough to get to do the fully setup Screen room first (imagine a mini TV studio), where we were given a script("cold read" - barely any learning and could read from the script) and we all waited for our turn with 4th year students in a 2 person dialogue, all taped for later evaluation.
I maybe stuffed 1 or 2 lines up, but I never had to look at my script page once! :)
That over and done with, we all had a break and then came back to do our monologues.
What did I do?
(Agent) Smith from The Matrix (the original and the best), his "I'd like to share a revelation that I've had..." monologue with Morpheus.
Needed no others to do lines, and wasn't a bad piece to do, and I avoided an American accent and "Smithisms"(Hugo's own take on the part).
I maybe rushed it a bit, but I did...ok. I think. :P
We took an hour break, and came back.
I had a friend from my drama class I've mentioned before, and he got in, but sadly, I didn't make the cut.
He did a helluva audition piece, and I'm glad one of us got in at least. :)
That bloody Christmas carol didn't get a look in either.
Oh well, I guess like Brian was told:
"Always look on the bright side of life!"
(Whistle chorus)
"Always look on the bright side of life!"
(Whistle chorus)
"Always look on the bright side of life!"
