I broke down and bought a mp3 player. It is oh so very lovely. I spent last week gleefully fidgetting in my seat in time to the music.  Now I need to organize my music so I can fill it up with good stuff.

40gb drive. That is so much music to walk around with. It makes me giddy.

(And no, I did not get an iPod).

What kind of music do you listen to? (Uh, other than Meatloaf and Billy Joel :P Damn, you ARE old). I have like two billion CDs and tons and tons of stuff ripped already.

If you don't feel like you need a huge variety of music onhand, there are some good flash-based players. The capacity is much smaller (we're talking like 60 songs rather than 10,000), but they're less delicate than the drive-based players and small, so you could use it when playing sports or running or whatever. They're much cheaper too, around $40-100.

I'll probably eventually end up getting a flash one for the gym... if I ever go back to the gym.
