Word Count: 1009 words
Summary: Back to the beginning - remixed w/ Lindsay’s POV
Rating: PG-13, underage drinking.
Disclaimer: This is not real.

Words can't even describe how immensely her world changed that night.

For the first time in awhile, Lindsay had a night free - no press junkets, no photo ops, no high-class business meetings, no uncomfortable family get-togethers - just freedom. While she would have been happy to just chill on her couch and watch TiVo'ed episodes of her favourite shows, a better opportunity presented itself at the last minute.

"I'm spinning tonight if you're in the city," Samantha's voice said on the answering machine. "Just tell them I invited you and there should be no trouble getting in."

She thinks about the hoards of paparazzi likely to follow her, and the chance that one or several of her exes might make an appearance. Maybe she should stay in, away from the limelight for a night. Get some rest.

But again, she weighs her options. She hasn't seen Samantha in a few months because of their conflicting schedules. One or both of them are frequently out of the country and don't really run in the same crowds. And being with Samantha makes her feel grown up. The older woman doesn't treat her like some reckless teenager and instead as an equal.

She changes her mind several times and finally at the last minute throws on a party dress. When she arrives at the club, the bouncer recognizes her and lets her in despite her being underage. She smiles and thanks him, promising to behave.

It's still early for club goers and the dance floor is nowhere near crowded. But she knows once Samantha takes over the tables, things will liven up.

The girl is impossible to miss among all of the scenesters, wearing acid washed skinny jeans, a soft cotton blue t-shirt, a leather jacket with lots of buckles on the sleeves and an edgy fedora where she holds a spare cigarette.

She watches her pick up a glass, sipping from its colourful straw, aloof and unaffected by the small turn-out. When she spots Lindsay, her smile lights up her entire face - like she's never been so happy to see someone she knows.

Samantha approaches her, a full drink in hand and offers it to the girl. "Was hoping you'd show because I bought you a drink."

Lindsay takes it graciously and hugs the DJ with her free arm. "Will you get in trouble? You know, buying drinks when I'm underage."

Samantha shrugs, showing she could care less. The two chat for awhile, catching up on each other's lives. Lindsay tells her she's just landed a new film role and Samantha explains she's just now settling into the new home she bought months earlier.

She can't help but look at the DJ differently, who seems very stable and self-fulfilled. She admires her; wants to be like her - but strangest of all, suddenly wants to be with her.

Samantha supplies her with drinks all night and as her inhibitions slowly fall away as does her too-warm jacket, the idea of propositioning the DJ becomes ever more appealing.

She tries not to stare, or at least not get caught staring, but her fascination is overpowering. Gently chewing on her pinky finger between sips of vodka and redbull, Lindsay feels restless and smothered. She desperately needs some fresh air.

As coincidence would have it, Samantha is thinking the same thing and grabs her by the hand. They shove through the growing crowds of people who paw at them, surely intending to tell their friends later that they met Lindsay Lohan when in reality they barely copped a feel.

The rush of cool air outside makes Lindsay's head spin and she rests in the DJ's arms until she can stand on her own. Samantha lights a cigarette between her lips and passes it along. It tastes sweetly of Jack Daniel's whiskey.

She watches intently as the girl smokes as well, sucking away at her own cigarette. Maybe if she keeps something in her mouth at all times, she will be able to resist her urges.

Samantha's mouth moves, and Lindsay knows she's spoken but she can't seem to focus. Her heart beats loudly in her ears. A feeling like adrenaline being pumped right into her veins occurs.

She tosses her half-smoked and still lit cigarette to the ground, unable to control her actions. Despite her slight frame, she pins an assuming and shocked Samantha against the cold concrete wall.

When she realizes what she's done, she panics but can't seem to pull herself away. She watches the girl's mouth move as she speaks, and then smiles. A genuine smile is something she rarely sees from the DJ and her knees feel weak. The girl oozes confidence tonight and Lindsay begins to feel inferior.

She tries to give herself a mental pep-talk, asking what's the worst that could happen? The girl pulls away and discounts Lindsay's actions to having too much to drink.

Samantha's mouth inches forward, stopping just short of her own. Her lips are slightly parted; warm exchanges of breath try desperately to draw her in. She can see in the girl's eyes that she wants it - so why doesn't she just take it?

Her intoxicated lack of restraint begins to slowly fade and she suddenly has doubts.

"We should go back inside," she says, backing away slowly and a little clumsily. She gives the girl time for a second chance, to realize what she may be missing. When she doesn't respond, Lindsay takes it upon herself to head into the club alone.

Turning around just before the door, she offers a limp hand. She looks carefully at the girl's face and recognizes the ambiance of desire.

The door behind her doesn't quite close. She stands quietly in the hallway, gathering her thoughts and giving herself a mental head slap.

Foot steps outside the door put her heart at a standstill. A deep breath in.

You're not stranger to chasing your dreams, she thinks to herself. So why is this any different? Go ahead and take what should be yours.

Someone gave me the idea to take a look at things from Lindsay’s POV so I jumped back in time. I might do this occasionally throughout, so let me know what you think. Will be a continuation from Part 12 tomorrow morning.
