csifreak90 One night at work, the girl approached her. “You’re really good. I wish I knew how to do all that.” She gestured at Samantha’s turntables as she set up her equipment.
Samantha smiled. “Yeah? I could teach you a little if you’re up for it.” The girl’s eyes lit up. She looked like a kid on Christmas morning.
She nodded and wandered confidently up to the DJ, flipping her long hair over her shoulders and onto her back. It smelled wonderful - sweet and strong like clover in the summertime.
Samantha explained the basics to her and let the girl listen to the mix through a pair of headphones.
She flirted shamelessly with Samantha; giggling, touching her arm and tugging at the pink tie around her neck.
It was hard for Samantha to keep from blushing. She hoped her feelings weren’t transparent and that the girl couldn’t tell how difficult it was for her to not flirt back.
She also knew the girl was almost a decade her junior. The tables had turned. Now she was the older woman as Happy had been her older man.
“Can you show me how to fade tracks?” the girl asked. Samantha could tell the girl knew way more than she was letting on. But if she insisted on being taught, Samantha could think of no better excuse to be close to her that wouldn’t seem romantic.
She set down her cigarette in a nearby foil ashtray and came up behind the girl. She reached her arms around her, placing her palms on top of the girl’s hands. She smiled when the girl coyly turned her head to look at Samantha. “You ready?” The girl nodded, blushing.
Samantha held firmly to the girl’s fingers, walking her through the steps until she looked confident enough to try it herself. She stood back, watching, as she finished her cigarette.
It was getting close to the start of Samantha’s set and so she politely asked the girl to step aside. She did so, graciously.
“Do you mind if I stick around and watch?”
Samantha shrugged, smiling. “Sure, if you want.”
The girl kept an eye on her, danced closely behind her and gave her those eyes - the ones that meant she liked what she saw.
Close to the end of her set, Samantha bought herself a drink. She sipped slowly from the red straw in her glass. The girl approached her again.
“Think I could get a follow-up lesson?” she asked. She was much closer to Samantha now; their hips touched. She grabbed the straw in the glass, sipping from it where Samantha held it - close to her own mouth.
Samantha licked her lips as she watched the girl.
“I could probably do that. But after the first one, I gotta start charging.” She shrugged, grinning as the girl let the straw drop from her lips.
The girl smiled sweetly, reaching out to grab the pink tie again. Her fingers brushed against Samantha’s stomach.
From behind her, several of her friends shouted: “Lindsay! We’re leaving, let’s go!”
She told them she would be out in a minute and returned her attention to Samantha.
“So what do you charge?” The girl winked, pulling gently on the tie to bring Samantha closer.
“I think, for you, we could work something out. Now go catch up with your friends.”
Samantha nervously tucked a piece of hair behind her own ear and avoided eye contact.
“I’ll see you around, then?” Lindsay asked, now holding the tie in both hands.
Samantha nodded, finally looking at the girl. Just as their eyes met, the girl kissed her quickly.
And just like that, she was gone. Samantha packed up her equipment, loosened her tie - she was feeling warmer than usual - and left the club.
This was going to be an even bigger challenge than she’d imagined.
