Any chance to get the option to change login server in XJournal? I'm using alternatvie site based on LiveJournal, and would like to use XJ. Any ideas? I know there are other clients that can change servers, but i need XJ because of the history option.

Xjournal's history feature works using the API for requesting individual entries, so it should be fine. AFAIK, there's no screen-scraping involved in Xjournal - that would be hideous.

As far as cross-posting, if the client doesn't support it, DreamWidth does it itself. Note also the instructions for Phoenix say to just enter the new server details: DreamWidth's API is AT LEAST backwards compatible, which is enough for a client. It doesn't need to care about the internal implementation, that's the whole point of an API. The only significant change at DreamWidth is the splitting of 'friends' and 'following', and that can fall back cleanly to the existing LiveJournal behaviour of having them both be the same.
