It's supposed to be super fun to play, and that may be true. However, it's like Devil May Cry on steroids and I found that game to be incredibly boring, while everyone else on earth didn't, so I'm probably a pretty poor choice for an opinion on it.

Devil May Cry lived and died on one game mechanic: You could seamlessly shift between your sword and guns and combo them into various attack patterns. If this didn't really impress you, well, there wasn't a lot else in the game to hold your attention. People will tell you about the engaging story. It isn't.

Bayonetta is like this times 1000. It's like paying $60 to be constantly insulted.
