the sentiments of A Very Lucky Girl

I am going to the best university in the country, or so it was deemed by some report which uses some unknown methodology. When I got in, I was ecstatic. I jumped, I screamed, I ran through my kitchen. I called James, my grandparents. I did all the requisite celebrations of being accepted.
But now, as I listen to my mother talk on the phone, sitting ( Read more... )

Very interesting. You realize that college isn't the end-all-be-all of exploration, right? After you graduate, you can still, and probably will, travel to many different places. You'll have the college experience under your belt either way, with extra knowledge from going to arguably the best university America has.

With that said, I think Marc had at least a little say in your choice. Obviously you didn't do it solely because of him, or simply because it was a convenience, but I'm guessing you were glad that he remained close...in the back of your mind, I guess. Hell if I had a girl who I'd been dating for a while decide to come to college with me..fuck yeah!

But it shouldn't matter; you're going to PRINCETON! *wow* kthxbye.

yeah, I realize, and I hope to be able to travel to the uk in my future.

as per marc, believe it or not, no he didn't enter my mind in the decision, even a little bit. My university has to do with me, and no one else- I'm the one it effects, so I was careful only to take myself into the decision. And if logic doesn't convince you, look at my situation.. I made that decision in three days. There was so much going back and forth in my head, that I didn't even have the energy or mental room to put marc, or anyone else for that matter, into the equation.

and thanks reido.

this is true, they have great grad schools. But out of curiousity, if you preffered them, then why didn't you apply there?

pratical matters, both Stanfoord and Columbia did not access International undergraduate students on a need-blind basis whereas Princeton did, so I would've been at an immense disadvantage applying to either schools, I did apply to them RD but I got into Princeton...so that saved me the trouble of writing more apps :p
