“Can we hurry this up? Rehearsal will start in 30 minutes and I don’t want to be late.” Aiba Hiroki looked at his watch and tapped the tabletop with his fingers.
Shirota calmly placed a package on the table. “Aiba-chan, could you explain to me what the meaning of this is?” He slid the package closer to Aiba’s fingers.
Aiba opened his mouth to complain, but closed it again as he saw Shirota’s warning look. He gingerly dragged the package towards him and tugged at the previously-opened flap. He let the content of the package slide to the table. Staring at the cover of the magazine, Aiba looked at Shirota nonchalantly. “So? What about this?”
“I mean that!” Shirota pointed to the neon-colored moustache decorating his face on the cover of the magazine. “Not only in that picture, but in all other shots, too.”
It was just this morning when Shirota received the magazine. It came through the mail and was addressed to him. Of course, he was a little horrified to see his face decorated with moustaches and cheek circles and sometimes, chest or facial hair. Even the female model who was with him in the pictures was not spared, as she was given cheek circles, facial add-ons, and eye censors. One picture even had her completely colored with the marker chosen to vandalize the pages. Worse, the marker was bright pink.
Aiba settled back to his seat and played with the hair on the side of his face. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he fibbed as he hid a slight smirk.
“You sent this to me.” Shirota said with sureness. He was sure this copy he was holding was the one he sent Aiba days ago, for he spotted his little message to Aiba on the inside of the cover. “Do you know how hard it was to ask the management for an extra copy? This magazine was sold out a few days after its release!”
Aiba rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest. “So, you’re being arrogant because of that best-selling magazine. You think it got sold out because you posed half-naked with that girl.” Heaving a sigh, Aiba looked out of the diner’s window. “Oh yeah right. I guess I shouldn’t have wasted such a treasure, of course.
Shirota shook his head as Aiba unconsciously admitted that yes, the magazine was his and he drew on it before sending it to Shirota. He was that annoyed that he took the time to color Kelly’s body with pink ink? Shirota wondered as he flipped through the vandalized pages. Suddenly, something struck him.
“Aiba-chan, don’t tell me you’re jealous?”
Aiba instantly knitted his brows and frowned at him. “W-What? Who’s jealous? Me? Hah!” He took out his phone absently. “Of course not! Why would I be jealous?!”
Shirota inwardly smiled as he turned to a page where Kelly’s face was completely covered by pinkness. Aiba was jealous. “So you just found the magazine pages fun to draw on?” Shirota asked, gently turning Aiba’s face towards him when the young man looked away. “Aiba-chan, answer me.”
“When you’re letting that-- that girl almost step on your....your... Well, who wouldn’t be worried?!” Aiba gushed.
“So you’re jealous?”
A blush crept up Aiba’s face as he denied his jealousy once more, a bit vexed this time. “I just thought this photoshoot of your sucks, and I had to make it known to you.”
If you just thought of the photoshoot, you would have just made fun of it as always, Aiba-chan, Shirota thought. “But, Aiba-chan, you used to complain about my sucky clothes in other photoshoots, but you never write on them, yet now...”
“Better sucky than half-naked,” Shirota heard Aiba muttering under his breath. The older guy grinned.
“What’s that again?” Shirota held out to Aiba, but the younger man picked up his bag and stood up. “Oi, where are you going?”
Aiba narrowed his eyes at him. “Away from idiots like you!” He stomped out of the diner towards the rehearsal building.
Shirota held his laugh until Aiba left the diner. After Aiba was out of plain sight, he laughed until tears came to his eyes. This was not the first time Aiba showed his jealous side, but this was way more interesting than the others. Shirota thought he was the only one who whined about girls in Aiba’s photos. Who knew his sentiments were reciprocated?
Looking through the pink-abused photos again, Shirota thought of a surprise to make Aiba’s mood better. Aiba seemed really pissed this time and it might take a while before he yielded to Shirota’s approaches. As Shirota wondered if he should cook tonight and kidnap Aiba from the rehearsal, he looked at the magazine spread where he was lying wearing only his underwear.
As he held the page to the light, he grinned. As he expected, Aiba was extremely jealous.
For right above his underwear in the photo and squarely on his crotch, Aiba’s signature was written in neon pink, warning anyone who wanted to steal what was solely his.
