I've always found that belief of the symbolism interesting. Because until Queen Victoria wore a white wedding dress as a way to state her high-fashion and upper class designation. And it was the Christian church who decided to label the white wedding dress a symbol of purity. Up until and even continuing on into the 1930s, it was the veil that symbolized purity.

It's still hilarious.

Well, you could always go into class next time and ask the professor what she thinks is more symbolic: that our culture chose to make an icon out of Queen Victoria, or that the Christian church found the movement to be so persuasive and popular that it decided to capitalize on it.. :)
