Days like these were the best. Just hanging around with your friends in a local playground, not caring everyone was a bit too old to have fun on the slide and stand in line to use the swings. It didn't matter though, it felt good to hold on to that little bit of youth they had left. They had been coming here more recently the last few weeks and Shindong could feel how he changed once his feet touched the sand that covered most of the playground.

It was a summer day not much hotter than average and instead of playing cards on the picnic table with Eunhyuk, Sungmin and Donghae, Shindong went to play on the equipment that would still be able to hold his weight. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Siwon following him, silently keeping him company as they crossed a climbing frame. Siwon climbed to the top and sat down on the metal bars, sighing at the small breeze cooling his skin.

Shindong looked up from a few bars down, squirming his way through the frame with a bit more difficulty. The chuckle from above was clearly directed his way, but Shindong didn't mind, he liked Siwon's laughter. The chubby one looked up and pulled a sour face, seemingly a bit stuck in a uncomfortable position. The taller one was already climbing down to help him, but Shindong shook his head, saying he wasn't truly stuck.

"Aaaah, hyung! You had me worried", Siwon replied once he heard the other wasn't in trouble at all. He pouted slightly and jumped of the frame, landing almost gracefully and he looked around while wondering what else he wanted to play on. He saw Shindong nearing the slide and walked over, watching how his hyung slid down and then climbed the ladder again to slide down once more.

Even though they were very good friends, being alone like this made Shindong slightly nervous and so he kept himself busy even if it meant playing on the slide over and over until he was blocked at the end of the yellow slide by a kneeling Siwon. They came face to face and the taller one smiled.

"You seem happy", Siwon said quite suddenly and Shindong wondered why he had to share that thought, but he nodded nevertheless, because he did feel happy. He could clear his head and do what he had loved to do when he was still a kid, sometimes he truly missed his youth, being a grown up was tiring at times.

"I'm happy", Siwon straightened and turned around with a smile walking over to the chin-up bars to show off his strength and flexibility, something Shindong really admired about the taller one.

Siwon hung from the bar upside down, his knees holding on tight as he looked at the upside down world. He smiled at Shindong who occupied one of the swings on his right and placed his hands on the sand, swinging his legs off the bar and once more facing the world like he was supposed to. There was a strange feeling buzzing within him, but he wasn't quite sure what it was.

"I'm happy", he said once more and nodded with a satisfied look on his face. Shindong snorted at him, shaking his head as Siwon repeated himself.

"I know you are, you've said it before", he commented and watched how Siwon sat down on the other swing. They didn't move though, they merely sat there and occasionally watched the three loud men playing cards in the distance.

"Sorry, I'm just really happy", Siwon grabbed the chains of the swing as he laughed, slightly moving left and red instead of trying to swing back and forth. The chubby male noticed that Siwon's swing came closer and closer to his until Siwon suddenly grabbed the chain of Shindon's swing and caused them to stick together somewhere in the middle.

The tall male grinned slightly, not really knowing why he was doing this. He opened his mouth and Shindong slapped his arm slightly.

"Yes, yes, you're just happy, I get it", he said and laughed once Siwon looked away with an embarrassed look.

"I AM happy", he still said and released Shindong's chain once he noticed the other jumped off, nearing him with a grin and grabby hands.

"Enough of your happiness!", Shindong roared playfully and Siwon pretended to be scared, jumping off as well and letting Shindong chase him through the playground and all the way up the small hill opposite of the picnic table. He reached a tree and circled around it with an amused look, Shindong spreading his arms and legs like a sumo who looked ready to force his way through the tree to grab him.

"No! No! Don't hurt me!", Siwon called out and noticed Shindong was getting tired of chasing him so he simply sat down against the tree and looked over at his other friends.

Shindong leaned against the tree as well, suddenly feeling nervous again and especially since they had drifted away from the others. He liked Siwon, a lot. The chubby male wasn't sure if Siwon liked him as well, but these little hints of playing together and fooling around surely made his heart pound a little faster. His hands were clammy as he played with the bark of the tree, hoping the thick silence would soon evaporate.

"Do you like someone?", Siwon suddenly asked, keeping his eyes on the three males down below. It was a sudden question and it sounded innocent, purely out of curiosity was it not for the blush on Siwon's cheeks that Shindong couldn't see.

"I do, what about you?", Shindong gulped hard after forcing the words out. He had said it, he was proud of himself already and awaited Siwon's words. The other hummed and nodded, there was also someone he liked.

"Do I know the person?", Siwon asked and looked down as he started pulling out strands of grass, an obvious sign he was nervous and perhaps a bit shy.

Shindong focused on the tree rather than the sitting male who made his heart flutter. He had confessed to liking someone, the question was still rather innocent, Shindong could answer it, right?

"Perhaps", the chubby male frowned after replying, silently wondering why he was being so mysterious though of course he didn't want to wear his heart on his sleeve. "What about the person you like? Do I know her?", Shindong asked, trying to keep the facade of thinking Siwon was as straight as could be.

A small chuckle came from the male on the grass. Then everything was silent and Shindong wondered if he should try to talk about something else, but Siwon suddenly spoke once more though still didn't look at him.

"I like you", the tall male said softly, staring off in the distance with his heart pounding in his ears. It was out in the open now, Siwon felt uncomfortable when the other didn't reply and dared to glance up.

"W-Well, I like you too", Shindong said and tensed when he met Siwon's careful look. They looked at each other, waiting for the other to say something now that they knew the feeling was mutual. Siwon kept silent, unsure if he should ask Shindong if he wanted to go on a date or something similar. To his surprise it was the chubby one who insinuated such a thing first.

"Do you want to.. be together? Um, boyfriends? Ah, like.. do you want to go out?", Shindong muttered and blushed brightly shuffling with his feet and focusing back on the bark he had been clutching with his hand.

"Sure, if you want me to..?"

"Of course I want you to or else I wouldn't have asked!", Shindong replied hastily and sighed slightly.

Siwon laughed momentarily, he was such an idiot for saying that. He liked the idea of spending more time with Shindong and was a bit taken aback when the other asked him to be his boyfriend and go out on a date. It made him all shy even though he had been through all of his falling in love scenario before. It felt different though, with someone else asking him for once.

"Then yes. Can I hug you?", Siwon suddenly asked, looking up with a small smile. Shindong huffed embarrassed and nodded, sitting down next to the tall male and glancing at him slightly. The air was still a bit awkward but both were smiling, glad that they were able to confess their feelings. The tall male wrapped an arm around Shindong's neck and pulled him closer, placing his head against the other's in the sideways hug.

Not the hug Shindong had expected, but perhaps it was for the best because he was blushing furiously as it was, carefully wrapping his arm around Siwon's middle in return. They sat like that for a moment, neither saying anything, just enjoying the little intimacy they would share more often from now on.

"I'm happy..", Siwon whispered and felt Shindong pinch his side. He grunted slightly and laughed when he heard Shindong chuckle, it felt a bit silly but good.

They were two teenagers in love as they walked down the hill and joined their friends who gave them questioning looks. Once they got back in the car and Siwon adjusted the rear view mirror while sitting behind the wheel, smiling as he caught Shindong's look, they returned to being grown up men, but being in love nevertheless.
