I was gonna try my best to not mention this in my LJ, but after a lot of discussion about it, I might as well...
Ok, it was a horrible shooting. I've been over the list, and while no one that I personally knew was on the list, I know it must be a rough few days for the familys involved. I send my condolences and deepest well wishes.
But I wanna know something. Just how much longer is it going to take for people to understand that they need to treat people better? Granted, the 32 killed probably had no/little effect on Cho personally, but there obviously were factors that need to be taken into consideration.
I'm not saying that he's justified, because he's not. Not in any way, shape, or form. It was horrible, it's sad, and it's absolutely appalling and repulsive. However, some people can't cope with the abuse they get.
Did any of you read Richard McBeef or Mr. Brownstone? Besides being a horribly written smut fest of foul language and adult situations, the kid was obviously tortured by something. Sure, plenty of people sat there and said "well we tried to say hi to him once or twice, but he was a quiet kid"
THEN on top of all of that, some kids, one particularly who WROTE UP A STORY, mentioned that he and all of his friends had even considered that Cho could someday become someone who shot up the school, right? YES. So there were so many warning signs that were obviously ignored. OBVIOUSLY ignored.
I praise Nikki, the teacher who had him kicked out of the classroom for taking pictures of the girls legs under their skirts. She had the right idea. He had been considered "a danger to himself" but no one ever said he was a danger to others? So many factors that were ignored.. Again.
Claim insanity, get out of jail free card. Cho's dead now, so he's no longer a threat to himself or others. But lets think. Before he killed himself, he took the lives of 32 innocencts. THIRTY FUCKING TWO. He was A HUGE THREAT to himself, and an even BIGGER threat to others, but again, IGNORED.
Society needs to get a grip. Are they going to wait until something of a larger scale happens? Sadly, probably so.
You know what, fuck this shit. Let's just show his pictures and his videos all over TV BECAUSE YOU FUCKIN MORONS THATS WHAT HE WANTED TO HAPPEN!! Damn, the media is stupid. He claimed that the Columbine shooters were martyrs? And if the media had kept all that information underwraps, he wouldn't have been able to get it.
The next day, the NEXT day, 12 threats were called in. Because it's publicity. Because I guarantee you now, the person who will be immortalized through all of this... will be Cho, not any of his poor victims who died in cold blood.
So congratulations. Society ruined him instead of helping him, and he's flipped it, and we're not only paying the price, but we're turning him into a worldwide name. Good job, losers.
"You had a million billion chances to stop this" I think is what he said. He was right. Learn from it America.
