I would probably want to fix first out much food our (States) country throws out. So much honestly disgusts me and every chance I get I usually come home with some sort of food to give to my animals or to leave out side for the wild life instead of it just being thrown away. We have produce that has little specks and spots and others that are totally rotten in the bunch. When we go through it, I'd normally segregate the not so bad and can be used from those that are totally for the bin. After work, I'd take all those that I segregate to the disgust of my son. He thinks I will just let it rot. But in reality, I am also trying to feed my one rabbit that I see in my yard. I'd throw pieces of anything to the ground. But I can not just live it all in there for fear my neighbours will report me for littering even in my own yard. (I don't live in a farm so zoning is kinda strict!) So sometimes, I have them sitting in my back porch or in our kitchen which he deplores!
And for the others that the little critters can not eat, I also just give it back to mother nature, instead of putting it in a plastic bag for the dumpster.
