I have no desire for the temperatures to ever get below 40 degrees, let alone 32 degrees. Never mind the 10 degree windchill.  When it gets dark at 5 PM, I find it absolutely depressing. I don't mind layering up - having lived in Chicago for years - but I do hate the biting cold something fierce. I don't blame people who vacation to warmer places during winter one bit, lol.

Minnesota is plenty cold enough for me! What a unique fascination... would be interesting to hear the stories of those bucket list trips.

seeing the northern lights is really darn neat. i live in minnesota and i've only managed to see it twice. one was pretty mild and passed in a few moments, but was still stunning. another lasted over 20 minutes and i loved and cherish every minute. you have to be out pretty late at night, in just the right conditions to see it.

i dont appreciate any of the cold here, but i do like the snow. even as i bitch about the snowblower and all. i grew up here and winter isnt right without it. last year we didnt get any lasting snow til february and it was the most wrong winter i've ever had. i think the wicked cold temps here make us appreciate spring a thousand times more.

That's so cool that you got to see it! Jon and I tried a couple of times when the aurora was south enough that you were supposed to see it in MD but we never got to see it.

Winter is weird I will agree with without snow even in MD.
