Big hugs to you - none of this additional stress makes things any easier on you! Personally - I think a baby shower with the baby attending in person - would be EXTRA fun and you should totally do it! About the only thing you wouldn't be able to easily do would be a gender reveal, if that was going to be part of it, originally :D
I can’t imagine how hard it must be to be pregnant and not have your mom to talk to. Will you name your son for her? (If you do that sort of thing?) Omg I never thought about Jon not being able to come to ultrasounds. Holy shit. I’m glad you can FaceTime but... not the same. When your son is older, you’re going to have stories to tell him about how strong you were through all of this. You are a fucking rock star!
I'm so sorry you're missing out on so many first baby things! With my third, I'm not missing it, but I can totally understand wanting those experiences with your first. My mom's baby shower for me (her firstborn) happened after I was born because I was so premature, so it's not unusual. Maybe a virtual baby shower? I'm glad your anxiety has lessened the further into the pregnancy you are!
