My mom and aunts would always tell me stories of my grandfather who I never met. His big sticking point to them had always been family stays together, no matter what. He would remind them that they were three sisters and they only had each other. It became a mantra that was drilled into them and they could recite long after he was gone

Ugh. I'm so sorry so much of your family are such dreadful people, but I'm very pleased you've chosen to not allow them to be an example to your son... I'm sure you'll only gain confidence in that decision as you see him blossom without that poison in his life. Good for you for doing the right thing. <3

I'm really glad I made the decision for them not to be in my life - even more so as I think about my son's future!
