Summary: Hyukjae’s condition
Note: This is written from Donghae’s point of view.
Donghae’s P.O.V.
This was a dream, this wasn’t real. I wasn’t here, I was asleep in my bed having a nightmare and when I wake up I’ll brush this off and get ready for prom.
This wasn’t real.
But the pain in my chest felt real.
NO, this wasn’t real, I wasn’t here, I was dreaming.
But the tears stinging my eyes, and the warmth coming off of Leeteuk felt real.
This was real. I wasn’t dreaming.
I had to shut my eyes. This reality hurt, this knowing and unknowing was driving me mad.
If this was my reality then I only wanted one thing.
Hyukjae
How could surgery take so long? Didn’t that mean something was wrong?
NO, I couldn’t think like that. The reason it was taking so long is because they were being thorough and I was being impatient, yeah that was it. I was being impatient.
I had to calm down; everything was going to be fine.
Breathe in, breathe out.
I shut my eyes tighter as I tried to focus on Hyukjae’s smile, but the image was fading. Why couldn’t I remember how he smiled? Why didn’t it seem right?
Inhale, Exhale
It would be okay, I would see his smile again and I would memorize it. I would note ever detail on his face so it would be burned into my memory. I would never forget again.
The room was silent save for the sounds of muffled cries and the occasional sound of shifting in the seats. I could feel people staring at me but I couldn’t find the strength to lift my head. Leeteuk had made me feel calmer but I couldn’t get rid of the fear, the fear that I would never see Hyukjae again.
“Excuse me” said a voice and everyone in the room looked up including me.
“In regards to Lee Hyukjae” one of the two Doctors addressed the room and the 11 of us waiting to know Hyukjae’s condition stood up and walked to the doctors.
“Hello” one Doctor said once we were standing in front of them “my name is Park Jungmin and this is Kim Kyujong we will be Lee Hyukjae’s Doctors” he informed us and we all nodded in acceptance of his words “his surgery was a success” Doctor Jungmin said with a smile “we had limited complications and were able to save his leg” I bit my lip as I listened to his words, at least Hyukjae was alive and safe.
“Unfortunately the stress of the accident and surgery must have put a strain on his body” Doctor Kim Kyujong said and I held my breath as I waited for his next words “Lee Hyukjae is in a coma”
Coma? After I heard t he words leave the Doctors mouth my heart stopped, Hyukjae was alive but he wasn’t awake.
“Sometimes these things just happen” Doctor Kyujong said
“How long will he be in a coma?” Leeteuk asked and I was thankful, I wanted to ask but I lost my voice, I was too scared of the answer.
“It’s very hard to predict these things, it could be as little as a day or as long as a year. But we have faith that he will wake up soon. He’s a fighter” Doctor Kim Kyujong said confidently, like he truly believed his words. I had to believe them too, Hyukjae would wake up soon; he would come back to me.
“C-can we s-see him?” I asked. It was the first time I had said anything in a while and my voice came out very peculiar, it didn’t sound like my voice at all.
“He’s in the ICU right now but you should be able to see him tomorrow morning” Doctor Park Jungmin informed me giving me a smile, his smile was infectious and I found myself smiling back.
I had waited all night in panic just to find out Hyukjae’s condition, I could wait until tomorrow to see him.
“If you have any more questions we would be more than happy to answer them” Doctor Kyujong said with an honest smile, his smile made you feel like everything was going to be alright.
Nobody had any questions “Well then we better get going so we can monitor Lee Hyukjae’s condition. We will see you all later” Doctor Jungmin said before he and Doctor Kyujong walked off into the corridor.
There is a moment when you get good news where it feels like everything in the world is in perfect symmetry. But that moment soon fades away as reality comes back crushing you.
With the Doctors no longer standing there with their comforting smiles and reassuring words I started to realize how unoptimistic the situation was. Sure Hyukjae was alive, but he wasn’t awake and it wasn’t until Doctor Park Jungmin and Doctor Kim Kyujong left the room did I start to feel exactly how alone I was.
“It will be okay” Leeteuk said placing a hand on my shoulder “at least he’s alive and you know him, he’d do anything to get to see you again, so it’s only a matter of time before he wakes up”
I nodded my head and gave him a weak smile, I wanted to believe his words, and a part of me did. I would do anything to see Hyukjae so I had to believe he would do the same for me.
“So?” Sungmin said breaking the silence that had formed after Leeteuk’s words “What time do we come to see him tomorrow?” he asked and everyone was silent once again.
“Umm…maybe in the morning before school?” Leeteuk offered.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, what if they miss school?” Yesung said pointing to both Ryeowook and myself “They’re still in High School, they can’t just miss class” he said with worry written on his face. I wanted to protest that school wasn’t near as important as Hyukjae but I got beaten to it
“It’s Hyukjae” Ryeowook said “do you really think we’d be able to sit in school without seeing him?” he said looking at Yesung and then turning to me “we’d probably destroy the class having to wait. Right?” I nodded my head in agreement. I knew I was prone to tantrums when I didn’t get my way, and Ryeowook was the same.
“I guess your right” Yesung said “So tomorrow before school. Do you need me to pick you up Donghae?” he asked.
“I…Uhh” I started but got cut off by Kibum
“No, its okay I will bring him” he said and I looked over at him, I had forgotten he was even here. I offered him a smile as a thank you; he didn’t have to do that.
“Okay” Yesung said happily, I guess he wasn’t aware that Kibum was also in High School or he would have freaked about three high school students missing school, according to Ryeowook he was very adamant about kids going to school.
“Okay, then it’s all settled, well meet here before school starts” Leeteuk said
After all the plans were made Kibum and I made our slow walk back to the car. Once we were in we just sat there in silence, Kibum didn’t even start the car.
I waited for him to talk, knowing he wouldn’t.
After a while he put the keys in the ignition. “I’m sorry” was all he said before he started the car and drove us home.
Once we got home he turned the car off and waited for me to get out of the car, he only got out when I was starting to walk inside.
Even after we were inside he didn’t say anything, he just took off his shoes and started to walk upstairs. I fallowed close behind him, but as I was standing in front of my door I turned to look at him and said “Thank you” before I entered my room.
I lay down in my bed not bothering to shower or change, I had too much on my mind. I tried to close my eyes to go to sleep but it didn’t seem like I was going to be able to sleep because every time I closed my eyes I would see Hyukjae lying in a hospital bed all alone.
It was going to be a long night.

First off let me apologize for my simi-hiatus/disappearance, I was super busy with school and other things, so I’m very sorry for not finishing this before I disappeared. Second let me apologize for how short it is, the next chapter should be a lot longer (but who knows, I do get bored/distracted easily) oh and I wrote this really fast so if it sucks please forgive me <3
About the Doctors: hehehe omg I love SS501 so I just had to make two of them the doctors, plus Park Jungmin had his comeback and I absolutely loved it. Seriously I lost a whole day to spazzing over it XD originally it was suppost to be Yunho and Jaejoong but…Jungmin had his comeback and, well you know how these things go XD
