Funny how a relationship that hadn't been about anything serious at all still left him feeling the need to mourn its passing. Aiji had been completely right about it all; the reasons why Changmin had started sleeping with him in the first place, the reasons why it never would have worked, the need to put an end to it before Changming got hurt. Hurt worse. The way he was feeling, maybe ... maybe a part of him had been starting to think of Aiji as more than just a friend.

Yes, he was nearly certain that was why he was feeling so lost and alone lately. They had done the right thing in the end ... they just hadn't done it soon enough. And he'd beeen so careful, too, thought he had it all planned so perfectly. What sign had he missed? How had he not realized sooner what was happening? How had he not been able to see the signs? How had he -?

“You should pay more attention to where you're going. Good way to mow down a buncha people, woolgathering through the halls like that.”

“Aa! I'm so sorry, please excuse my thoughtlessness,” Changmin stammered, bowing as he recovered from apparently nearly trampling someone. He thought he recognized the face before him as another artist with the label - and that would have been entirely logical, since he was wandering their Japanese label's halls in his little haze, although he couldn't quite recall why - but he was having a terrible time with names lately.

“If you don't mind me saying it, you don't look so good. Changmin, right?”

“Eh? You know me?”

“Only enough to recognize your face,” the other man said with a charming grin. “Kiyokiba Shunsuke. And you look a bit lost. Where's the rest of your group?”

“I, um, actually, I'm not entirely sure. We arrived together, I'm sure, and then ... I'm not sure what happened after that.”

“SHIM CHANGMIN! What the hell? What are you doing, wandering off and then not answering your phone???”

“Junsu-hyung?”

“You know we've spent the last hour looking for you? What happened?”

“I ... I'm not sure,” Changmin confessed, feeling embarrassment flood his cheeks with heat. “I was walking along with you guys and then ... I wasn't anymore.” It sounded so stupid, phrased like that, but it was all he knew. He hadn't even realized he'd gotten separated from the others until Shunsuke had stopped him.

“All right, well ... thank you for finding him, oniisan,” Junsu said, offering a polite bow to Shunsuke.

“You're quite welcome. I hope you're feeling better soon, Changmin-kun.”

He didn't know what it was, other than perhaps reckless impulse, but before anyone could stop him, Changmin hugged Shunsuke. It was nothing and yet it was everything, having someone notice his grief long enough to say something about it. Stupid as it was, it helped.
