I can just imagine Joe Plaice going "The Santa giveth and the Santa taketh away" and then eating everybody else's fruitcakes.

Haha, that would be perfect! Only, he gets the phrase mixed up and says "The Santa taketh, and the Santa giveth away." Neither one of which is very good for the original possessor.
"Santa, where's my fruitcake?"
"Which I gave it to Awkward Davies here."
