I had lunch with the interim director of ResLife. It was strange although not as awkward I was expecting, plus I got free Thai Gardens. Basically it was because I email her every other week with some grievance that I have with the ResLife institution (I have many indeed), so she was eventually like "okay, Matt, are you doing anything for lunch next ( Read more... )

Portland is a long way from here. I mean, not distancewise, but still. I can see why you miss it-- I do, too, and it's only my half home. Maybe it's the character of the city, or the natural beauty that's a little missing from here, or... it's just the Home thing. I miss Portland the way I miss Boston, and that way is how I miss home. If that makes any sense.

Maybe it's because I can only get home through two plane flights and three airports, but I don't feel that experience, ever. I wish I had somewhere that I identified with like that.

When I'm getting home, I slump down, I breathe out, I relax, but that's also because it's home. Maybe it would be a different story if I were driving; it's not good to relax too much at the wheel.
