Why stay in college? Why go to night school?

I'm feeling really exasperated and burned out right now. After today I will have had to write 36 pages worth of papers in the past two weeks. 10 of these pages will have been in French. I really don't seriously care about any of the topics I'm writing about. I have actual relevant (astro/physics) work to do too, but I have to put it on hold to ( Read more... )

Good point. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go drive my car off a cliff and have a near-life experience.

Fuck off with your string-green stripe patterns. I say, let's evolve, and let the chips fall where they may.

If it's any consolation at the end of last semester I wrote about 75 or 78 pagers of papers in a week. Nothing in French though.

Good luck with all of your work! You'll pull through.

36 pages man, that's a hell of a lot. Maybe you mentioned it before, but why do these papers need to be written in French... I know you are going for the best possible education possible, but there do seem to be times when what you're doing is a total waste of time.

I feel the same way as you right now, got about three hours sleep. Missed my first class, printing out papers, gotta work out registration / financial aid issues tomorrow, club meeting, parking ticket appeal, group meeting. yayay

It's a French class. It wouldn't make much sense to write papers in English for it, would it? (The others were a 20 page and 6 page paper for a poli sci class). Complain as I might, it's a pretty typical workload for the end of the semester around here.

I essentially kept taking French because I wanted to maintain my language skills... but you're right. It's a waste of time because it's much more intellectual history and much less practical maintenance of language skills. I'm doing it next semester.

The University (or college, whatever); haven of education, culture, free thought, and endless mindless essays.
