I think there ought to be a rule where professors can't compel you to hand in a problem set if their class has older problem sets waiting to be graded and returned. RIT is on a tri-mester schedule, so everything, including the drop and withdrawal dates, comes and goes by quickly. I had a number of classes where we had no grades back at all by the time the withdrawal date came around.

Also there's the issue of not knowing what you've done wrong, so PS#1 could have been totally wrong, and you'll do the same thing on PS#2, but you don't know you're screwing up.

I don't know about problem sets, but that definitely applies to papers. I hate when professors assign another paper before handing back the first one - if you can't grade it in that amount of time, we shouldn't have to write it. And I don't even know how you like my writing, or what you're looking for, anyway.

I mean, yeah. It really should apply to every assignment type. I also acknowledge that teaching a class is vastly more effort than taking a class, but it's still kind of lame if profs expect us to be on the ball when they're slacking off.
