Charles knows this: every one of Erik's scars tells a story, sometimes one even Erik doesn't consciously recall. When Charles brushes a scar with a gentle finger, deliberate lips or a soft tongue, Erik sighs faintly as another memory swells from the depths of his subconscious, another chord in the symphony of him, and Charles listens and feels and senses him, delighting in the sonorous music. This was something Charles discovered long ago when he kissed a girl's scarred knee and learned how she fell off a horse as a child, but it was still a pleasant shock to lick a shiny seam across Erik's thigh and find himself plunged into the heat and triumph of the day Erik dragged himself over a sharp cliff to the top of a mountain in Israel. Erik's skin burned, spreading in waves from under Herr Doktor's hands. Much more and his pounding heart would surely rupture, his aching chest burst open; clenching his fists he desperately attacked the cuffs, but the grip of his mind skidded and slipped with every stroke piling on stroke, each hot breath Herr Doktor blew in his ear. The cuffs rattled and danced but they clung to their hook and held Erik's wrists in bands of fire; Herr Doktor unwound the arm round his chest but there was a long wet sound right by Erik's ear and then the other hand took up the stroking, wet and hot and undeniable. "Please," Erik sobbed, and he meant 'no', he wanted to mean 'stop', he sobbed till his eyes burned and the cuffs seared his skin but nothing was hotter than the painfully perfect slide of Herr Doktor's hand as he held Erik close with the other and breathed warmly in his ear ( ... )

Thank you SO much for this lovely long detailed comment! I just can't resist juxtaposing Erik's controlled demeanor with the earthquake he can set off when upset. And well, I saw a review describing Bacon's performance as creepy-uncle-ing, and I COULD NOT RESIST.

This is so powerful and affecting -- I felt my heart breaking for Erik, and a bit for Charles, too. I love your Erik, damaged but put back together through sheer force of will, and the dynamic between him and Charles, whose heart is too big for his own good, is pitch-perfect.
