6 favourite bands: ahhh, only 6...iron maiden, nightwish, sonata arctica, dio, stratovarius, judas priest.
6 favourite movies: I don't know how much of a "metal" selection this is, but...monty python and the holy grail, falling down, my cousin vinny, phantom of the opera (2004 version), lord of the rings trilogy (I would count that as one really long movie), and legend
6 favourite CDs: iron maiden-no prayer for the dying, nightwish-wishmaster, dio-magica, hammerfall-renegade, manowar-kings of metal, black label society-stronger than death
what you consider metal: long hair. leather. amazing guitar riffs being played by an amazing guitarist at freaking 3 AM at some crappy little dive in poughkeepsie with about 150 of his sleep-deprived fans hanging on his every note and chord, and for some reason he and his band keep playing song after song after song where almost any other performer would have packed up and ended the concert hours ago. (that example is from the yngwie malmsteen/george lynch show I went to about a year ago...it was, in a word, spectacular. the club was a piece of crap, and there was no pyro or good lighting, but that's OK because the focus was on THE MUSIC. which I think is the obvious thing a true metalhead would care about most.)
What two lyrics describe you best:
1. from Judas Priest, "I'm A Rocker"
I'm a rocker
I can never get enough
I'm a rocker
It's something in my blood
I'm a rocker
Wouldn't change it even if I could
I'm a rocker
Do as I feel as I say
I'm a rocker
And no one can take that away
2. from Stratovarius, "I Walk To My Own Song"
High I fly
I touch the sky
Far above the frozen minds
You can't kill my dreams
You can't kill my spirit
I was born to be free
I walk to my own song
Every day the power grows stronger in me
I walk to my own song
Head up proud
I'm the master of my own destiny
favourite colour: black, silver, midnight blue.
what makes you metal: I suppose the fact that I know an awful lot about metal in general, my two genres of choice being classic metal and any and all european power-metal or opera-metal groups...I dress the part although I don't think that counts too much in whether you're really metal or not, your taste does...and I really don't think the stuff that passes for metal nowadays (i.e. korn or icp or slipknot) is even half as good as the old shit. and the fact that I continue to resist the mainstream/stand up for my opinions, even though I have definitely been discriminated against for the way I look.
You were the saddest when what musician died? dimebag darrell abbott (pantera/damageplan). I found out what happened to him, ironically, from a metal community here on livejournal. I was so sad and unbelievably pissed off, because dimebag was widely known among pantera fans for being a great guy, he left behind a wife, and of course his brother. what got me the most was how the idiot who shot him got the wrong man, if he wanted vengeance against the man who "broke up Pantera", shouldn't he have known that Phillip Anselmo was the one responsible? better yet, he could have handled his disappointment in a way that didn't involve KILLING A PERFORMER. r.i.p. dimebag.
Smoke/Drink/Drugs???: none. I experimented a bit a few years ago, but never really got into it.
promote and link: definitely will do.
Pics: these were all taken on the same day because they were already on my computer ^_^
